U.S.-Pakistan Business Council Leads Trade Mission to Pakistan and
Releases Report

The U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) organized a trade mission to Islamabad, Pakistan on January 13-15, 2016.  The delegation was led by USPBC Chairman Miles Young, Worldwide Chairman, Ogilvy & Mather and Vice Chairman Mehmood Khan, Vice Chair, PepsiCo. The delegation was accompanied by USPBC President Espie Jelalian. The USPBC delegation represented a wide range of industry sectors, including advertising and public relations, beverages, defense, energy, finance, consumer goods, social media, and IT and telecom.

Following the trade mission, the USPBC released a report highlighting the country’s economic potential. The report, titled “Partnering to Bolster Growth and Enhance Pakistan’s Competitiveness,” offers a set of recommendations that American companies established in Pakistan believe can help sustain and attract foreign investment and enhance growth in the country.

2014 USPBC Trade Mission to Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi

In 2014, the Council led a delegation of U.S. company executives to Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. The USPBC delegation met with Pakistan’s Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar, Minister of Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan, Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue Tariq Bajwa, Chairman of the Board of Investment Miftah Ismail, Chairman of the Privatization Commission Mohammad Zubair, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources Abid Saeed, and Director General of the Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO). In addition, the delegation met with officials of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and U.S. Consulate in Karachi. Trade mission participants also engaged private sector organizations, including the American Business Council of Pakistan (ABC), the American Business Forum (ABF), the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industries (OICCI), and the Pakistan Business Council (PBC).
